09.08.2017 07:36 Muropaketin toimitus

Scifin suurtapahtuma Worldcon alkaa tänään Helsingin Messukeskuksessa. Worldcon 75:n pääpaino on tieteiskirjallisuudessa, mutta tarjolla on runsaasti ohjelmaa myös elokuvista, peleistä ja tv-sarjoista kiinnostuneille.

Viisipäiväinen Worldcon tarjoaa ohjelmaa kaikkiaan yli 800 tunnin ajan. Ähky siis uhkaa – ja isosti! Vieraita paikalle odotetaan reippaasti yli 5000.

Muropaketti tarjoilee jokaisena coniaamuna viisi menovinkkiä kyseisen päivän ohjelmasta.

Keskiviikkona Messukeskuksen hulinan keskellä kannattaa ottaa haltuun ainakin seuraavat tapahtumat:

1. Make the Most of Yout First Worldcon!

Kello 14.00-15.00 (tila 207)

”Attending your first Worldcon can be an exciting and sometimes overwhelming experience. There’s so much to do and see. Come learn more about what goes on at the convention including important highlights and history and get tips for making your first Worldcon a success!”

2. Opening Ceremonies

Kello 15.00-16.00 (tila 101a&b)

”The Opening ceremony is the official start to Worldcon 75. It will take you to a journey through the Finnish seasons with dance and music and introduce our Guests.”

3. Live Tea and Jeopardy

Kello 16.00-17.30 (tila 101a&b)

”This is the third year the Tea and Jeopardy podcast has been nominated for a Hugo Best Fancast award, and it won an Alfie Award last year. Meet Emma and Latimer from the podcast in a live stage version of the show. George RR Martin is invited into Emma’s tea lair for conversation, a nice cup of tea, a cheeky bit of cake and of course, a spot of mild peril. But will he survive his visit to the tea lair?”

4. Concert: Another Castle and Riverside Castle

Kello 20.00-21.00 (tila 101)

”Another Castle is the geekiest women’s choir in Helsinki. Riverside Castle is the geekiest women’s choir in Turku. We sing familiar tunes from TV-shows, movies, games and other geeky sources. From dragons to spaceships, we have it all in the form of music!”

5. Red Mars / Green Mars

Kello 21.00-22.00

”It seems likely that people will be going to Mars in the foreseeable future, so what should we do when we get there? Should we be ’Reds,’ and preserve the Martian ecology as it is, in an attempt to save any Martian lifeforms, or should we be ’Greens’ and destroy the Martian ecology in an attempt to terraform it to be more Earth-like?”
