Golden Globe -raati ymmärsi hyvän päälle ja palkitsi viime vuoden parhaan elokuvan kolmella pystillä

The Grand Budabest Hotel, Birdman ja Kaiken teoria saivat myös ansaitusti pystit.

Richard Linklaterin ohjaama Boyhood voitti tänä vuonna ihan syystäkin eniten Golden Globe -palkintoja. Se sai parhaan draamaelokuvan ja ohjauksen pystit, sekä Patricia Arquettelle myönnetyn parhaan naissivuosan palkinnon. 

Boyhoodin tekoon käytettiin yhteensä 39 päivää 12 vuoden aikana. Kerran vuodessa kokoontunut ryhmä kuvasi aina vain muutaman päivän kerrallaan.

Parhaan naisnäyttelijän palkinnon sai Julianne Moore elokuvasta Still Alice ja draamaelokuvan miespääosasta palkittiin Eddie Redmayne roolistaan Stephen Hawkingina elokuvassa Kaiken teoria.

Komedia- ja musikaalielokuvien palkinnon sai The Grand Budapest Hotel.
