Collision Point
The Race to Clean Up Space. No matter how clear the night sky is, no matter how many millions of stars are within view, looking up at the sky on a clear night still hides the halo of man-made debris around Earth that threatens the future of space exploration, global communication and endangers us all.

Aningaaq
A Short Film by Jonas Cuarón. A beautiful, short film that presents a comlementary view to the powerful scene between Dr. Stone (’Sandra Bullock) in space and a man and Aningaaq earth.

Gravity: Mission Control

1. It Began With A Story
At its core, Gravity is about being adrift and overcoming adversities. There are numerous visual metaphors written into the script that take this unique story to a deeper level.

2. Initial Challenges: Long Shots And Zero G
Once the script was written, the filmmakers had to continually identify the challenges of what they wanted to accomplish, try and fail at numerous solutions, then innovate new ways to approach things that ultimately led to the solutions that brought Gravity to life.

3. Previsualizing Gravity
In order to clearly help the entire team identify with the challenge of an entire film done in zero-g, and to really be able to accentuate the isolation of space ? the feeling of being in space had to be perfect. To that end, the entire film was first created in pre-vis.

4. The Hues of Space
To further accentuate the feeling of the loneliness and detachment that Dr. Stone feels while adrift in space, the harsh contrast of light and color was used to great effect. New techniques were created that helped reflect how close and yet how far away earth and the infinite blackness of space was.

5. Physical Weightlessness
Another aspect that needed to be addressed was portraying micro-gravity. By getting this right, filmmakers further accentuated the disconnectedness from life on earth.

6. Space Tech
Every single element had to be perfectly crafted and meticulously explored in order for the audience to feel connected to the emotional core of the film.

7. Sandra and George: A Pair in Space
Perhaps one of the most critical challenges making Gravity faced was getting the performances of the actors spot on to reflect not only the emotional but also the physical of working in a way that neither actor had ever experienced.

8. Final Animation
Having secured great performances and photography the main focus for each shot would then shift to a non-traditional Post-Production workflow. Even when the production had ended, the challenges, failures and experimentation of perfect solutions continued.

9. Complete Silence
Probably one of the most important aspects of the film that truly emphasized the human emotion and isolation was the sound design and score.
