Paradox Interactiven Hearts of Iron III -strategiapeli saa seuraavaksi toiseen maailmansotaan sijoittuvan itärintamalaajennuksen. For the Motherland vaikuttaa tuovan peliin lisää toimintatasoja ja tarkemman kuvauksen toisen maailmansodan itärintamasodasta.
Maailmanhistoriasimulaattorissa on panostettu Neuvostoliitossa käytävän suursodan tarkempaan mallinnukseen, mutta pelattavaa löytyy myös battle scenario -järjestelmän mahdollistamien minikampanjoiden kautta.
