Spoileri: Hämähäkkimies kuolee huomenna – ja näin se tapahtuu
USA:ssa tulee huomenna myyntiin Ultimate Spider-Man -sarjakuvan 160. numero, jossa lehden nimisankari kuolee. USA Today -lehti tosin paljasti jo tänään, miten kalman kylmä koura supersankaria koskettaa.
Marvel Comicsin Ultimate-maailmaan sijoittuvassa tarinassa (kyse ei siis ole sarjakuvakustantamon ”virallisesta” todellisuudesta) Hämähäkkimies taistelee SHIELD:in sellistä paennutta Vihreää menninkäistä vastaan. Jäämiehen ja Liekin avulla Hämis onnistuu pelastamaan May-tätinsä ja Gwen Stacyn, mutta haavoittuu kuitenkin kuolettavasti ja menehtyy lopulta Mary Jane Watsonin syliin…
USA Todayn haastattelema Brian Michael Bendis kertoi itkeneensä kuin vauva Peter Parkerin kuolemaa kirjoittaessaan. Mies on toiminut Ultimate Spider-Manin käsikirjoittajana lehden alusta asti. Peter Parkerin viimeisistä hetkistä kertovan tarinan hän on tehnyt yhdessä pitkäaikaisen yhteistyökumppaninsa Mark Bagleyn kanssa.
Jo nyt on tiedossa, että syksyllä Ultimate-universumi saa uuden Hämähäkkimiehen (ylin kuva), mutta kuka hän on ja mitä tapahtuu Vihreälle menninkäiselle? Se jää nähtäväksi…
Ultimate Spider-Man ilmestyi Suomessa 2000-luvun alkuvuosina spesiaaleissa ja MEGA-lehden sivuilla, mutta nykyisin sarjakuva ei Egmont-kustannuksen julkaisuihin lukeudu. ”Tavallinen” Hämähäkkimies seikkailee oman lehtensä sivuilla kerran kuukaudessa.

Concluding the critically-acclaimed, sold-out “Death of Spider-Man” story arc, the death of Peter Parker signals a major change for the Ultimate Comics Universe and sets the stage for the upcoming debut of an all-new Spider-Man.
